Please consider attending our 2009 Team Tryouts. The Rebels will conduct tryouts for 2009 Teams on the dates and at the locations listed below. To qualify for an age group, the player must be that age prior to May 1, 2009. This means whatever age a player is on April 30, 2009, this will be his age for the 2009 season. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tryout time for proper stretching and filling out the necessary forms.
The Rebels pride themselves on choosing athletes that epitomize what the Rebels represent. We choose baseball players that have a strong work ethic and conduct themselves with integrity on the baseball field. The players chosen must be committed to Rebels baseball, as well as their parents. The Lincoln Rebels are unique in that our outstanding coaching staff consists of paid, primarily non-parent coaches, many of whom are teachers.
Although we take our baseball seriously and play games from April 1 to approximately July 15, we work very hard at having fun in the process. Most of our teams play 45+ games over a three-month period and practice as much as 5 days a week. We will also travel to at least two out-of-town tournaments and play at least two in-town tournaments, including our own Rebels Memorial Weekend Classic Tournament. As you can tell from the number of games and practices, we are devoted to improving the skill level of the players chosen for our teams and we really do have a great time in the process! If a summer of baseball is not your idea of fun, then the Rebels program is probably not for you.
An important issue! Rebels teams are NOT pre-selected with the previous year's players. Each year every player must attend the tryout and prove to the evaluation committee that he has the skills, drive and commitment to be a Rebels player. We encourage anyone who has a commitment to baseball to attend our tryout.
We also strongly encourage any player from Junior Saltdogs, YMCA, or other select teams to try out for Lincoln's premier baseball program. Our success over the years has been built on our players’ (and their parents’) dedication to improving the quality of baseball in Lincoln.
Our commitment to you is that we will provide you with the best organized, financed and player-focused program available in Lincoln for youth baseball. The commitment we expect in return is one of dedication, honesty and integrity in all you do as a Rebels baseball player. We look forward to seeing you at tryouts!
